Francie Klopotic

Artist

Francie Klopotic is an Augusta, Georgia–based artist active in the local arts community. Working primarily in oil, her practice has evolved from vibrant portraiture influenced by glam rock and pop art into biomorphic abstraction shaped by her synesthetic perception of color, sound, and emotion. Her current  Night Seed series features fluid, organic forms and layered color fields that explore emergence, transformation, and the energy of unseen natural processes.

In 2025, she was juried in as a Signature Member of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA).

About Francie

Francie Klopotic is an Augusta, Georgia–based artist whose work explores biomorphic abstraction through the lens of synesthesia—an experience in which sound, emotion, and sensation manifest as color and form. Her paintings and works on paper translate these sensory overlaps into organic shapes, cosmic landscapes, and fluid structures that evoke the body, nature, and the unseen forces of creation.

Her professional art career began in 2018 when she returned to drawing after a long hiatus, initially creating photorealistic portraits of musical icons using graphite, charcoal, and colored pencils. The portraits quickly gained attention on social media and in local media outlets, leading to commissioned works for collectors across the United States.

In 2019, Klopotic began exhibiting in group shows and held her first solo exhibition in 2020. She began painting in 2021, where her bold use of color and expressive mark-making expanded her visual language. While her early painted works focused on iconic portraiture, her practice gradually evolved toward abstraction as she began translating her synesthetic perception of music, memory, and emotion into biomorphic forms.

Klopotic joined the Augusta artist collective Artzilla in 2021 and painted live during the ArtsCity Festival. In 2023, she was selected by a public art jury to paint one of Augusta’s iconic pianos for the Jessye Norman School of the Arts. That same year she presented two solo exhibitions and received additional media attention, including three television appearances.

In 2025, Klopotic began experimenting with watercolor on tree-free paper, discovering that the surface allowed pigments to merge and bloom in ways that echoed the fluid sensory experiences of synesthesia. This exploration led to a new body of biomorphic abstraction in her latest series, Night Seed. While her earlier works explored themes of origin and transformation, Night Seed has evolved into a more cosmic and introspective territory, where color, rhythm, and organic form arise from synesthetic perception. The resulting images feel primordial and emergent—suggesting unseen forces, deep time, and the quiet generative energies that shape the natural world.

Klopotic works almost exclusively in oil. In September 2025 she was juried in as a Signature Member of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA). Her work has been exhibited in Georgia, the metro Atlanta area, New England, and New York City, and is currently available at Art on Broad retail gallery in downtown Augusta.
